In
Option B the holes are produced in the tabs by using four cores to introduce undersized
holes in the coupler. Using the cores will eliminate the rough drill requirement for the
holes.
Since the holes have a tight dimensional
requirement, the holes will still have to be finish drilled.
A comparative cost analysis showed that, for
this component and the required production rate, the cost of fabricating and placing the
cores in the mold was more expensive than the rough machining step. |
